Before the electronics revolution began in the late 70's ,before their were video games , before PC's , before the internet....there was comics ,for over a century the comics medium has provided an imaginative escape from everyday "humdrum" life for the world's young and young at heart stimulating the imaginations of generations ever since it's inception. A true American art form, comics has given us near legendary, iconic figures such as; Superman , Batman , Wonder Woman ,Spider-Man ,and the Hulk. In the distant days of the golden and silver ages of comics we admired such artistic legends as; Jack Kirby, Will Eisner , Marty Nodell, Bob Kane , Bill Finger ,and Stan Lee to name just a mere few. But as time has gone by some of the four color legends of our childhood have suffered under the ravages of time and age affecting some physically and some financially.
ACTOR- "a commitment to our roots" is a non-profit organization founded by some of comics most influential individuals to assist these great artisans of the comics medium in their time of need whether it be in personally assisting them and their families or helping them with financial assistance on mounting hospital bills ,or financial insecurity. ACTOR depends greatly on private donations from both organizations and individuals who support the art form of comics.Through special auctions and limited edition prints and comics in addition to the donations ACTOR has been able help many comics creators of the past. So if you are a true comics fan and you love the art form help support these great artisans who through their hard work, devotion ,and God given talent fueled our childhood imaginations and filled our heads with dreams of fantastic worlds and amazing beings.
