This coming October Fog banks will form in theaters nationwide as director John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape from New York/LA) brings back a blast from the past...."The FOG".
Sound familiar? It should, because it's yet another remake, what makes this one special is that Carpenter directed the original (1980) as well.
The story is of a sleepy little seaside villa called Antonio Bay which hides deep within it's seemingly innocent town limits a dirty little secret, one which literally comes back to haunt them.
Seems like the town founders in a glowing gesture of loving your fellow man purposely caused the deaths of hundreds of innocents when they misguided a ship lost in the fog to smash into some breakers, why? Well they didn't like the idea of having a leper colony as their neighbors. Cut to present day Antonio Bay on the centennial celebration of their blessed little township...guess who has come back to help celebrate... the doomed crew of the "Lorna Dane" John Carpenter hot off the success of his record-breaking horror hit "Halloween"(1979) wrote this effective ghost story with Debra Hill. The film was yet another hit for Carpenter who went on to direct additional genre films like;"The Thing","Prince of Darkness", and "Starman".
The original version of "The FOG" starred; Adrienne Barbeau (Mrs.Carpenter), Jamie Lee Curtis, Janet Leigh and Hal Holbrook.
The new film which will be released on October 14th stars; Tom Welling (Smallville) and Selma Blair (Hellboy). The film is being released through Sony Pictures....."Happy Haunting"
