Star Wars Celebration 3 - Schedule Of Events Print E-mail
    18 Apr 2005

This weekend, April 21st thru the 24th, is STAR WARS CELEBRATION 3!  That's right all you Hoosiers, get ready for the invasion, as of thousands of Star Wars fans take over Indianapolis, Indiana!  Here's a list of some of the highlighted events this weekend, directly from StarWars.com!!

The Fan Fair Exhibit Hall at Celebration III will be the place to be each day for events, demonstrations, entertainment, and for a good dose of Star Wars fun served straight up. Star Wars fans from all over the world will gather to share their best, meet new people, and get ready for Revenge of the Sith. The Fan Fair Hall (Hall C) is huge, so fans attending Celebration III should be sure to set aside a good block of time to see what everyone there has to offer.

Death Star Diorama Builders: After doing an amazing job organizing the Diorama Builders' Room during Celebration II, Frank D'Iorio is back for Celebration III and will set up shop in the Fan Fair Exhibit Hall. Beginning and expert builders alike can come to the Diorama Building area and get involved in the action, making their own portions of the Emperor dreaded Death Star. D'Iorio and his team of builders supply the know-how, instructions, and all the materials necessary, and fans can supply just a little elbow grease. On Sunday builders can take their piece of the Death Star home with them. D'Iorio also will have special give-aways each day for builders, too.

Star Wars Cars: An entire squadron -- Road Squadron that is -- will dock at Celebration III in the Fan Fair Hall. In addition to the customized Star Wars cars that will be driven to Indianapolis from all over the United States, it's rumored that a Star Wars bus will come from San Diego. Road Squadron members will be in the Hall to answer questions about the methods -- sometimes surprisingly simple -- that they use to get their cars to look as cool as they do.

Tattoo Art Show and Star Wars Tattoo Show: Ink artists have known it for years -- there's a lot of amazing Star Wars tattoo art out there. Shane Turgeon, a tattoo aficionado and Star Wars fan, has gathered a most impressive collection of Star Wars tattoo art that will displayed throughout the weekend. Not only will the art be on display, but there will also be a live Tattoo Show and Competition scheduled for Sunday, April 24. Those with Star Wars tattoos that they are proud of, in places that can be shown to the rest of the world, should stop by Turgeon's tattoo display area in the Fan Fair Hall and sign up for the show!

Life-Sized Origami: Each day of the show Chris Alexander and a team of folders -- some of them pulled from the audience -- will fold one BIG Star Wars origami. Picture a life-sized Naboo Starfighter. A Jedi Starfighter. How about a life-sized Jabba the Hutt? Alexander plans to hold a silent auction for the origami pieces, with all proceeds going to the Koret Family House charity. Please stop by the origami area in the Fan Fair Hall for more details. Life-sized Origami Schedule: Thursday 5:30 - 6:30pm Naboo Starfighter; Friday 2:30 - 3:30pm Jedi Starfighter; Saturday 2:30 - 3:30pm Jabba the Hutt; Sunday 2:30 - 3:30pm Anakin’s Starfighter

Droidyard 500: Every day of Celebration III the race is on in the Fan Fair Exhibit Hall. What will move faster than a speeding Rancor over the weekend? Droids! The R2-D2 Builders will put their remote-controlled droids through their paces in heats that take place each day. The Droidyard 500 Championship Finals are scheduled for Sunday. Races take place right in the center of the Hall. Droidyard 500 Schedule: Thursday 6:30 - 7:30pm; Friday 1 - 2pm; Saturday 1 - 2pm; Sunday 1 - 2pm Droidyard 500 Championship Finals!

Stormtrooper Olympics: The thrill of victory. The agony of the armor. Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion will compete in the center of the Fan Fair Hall on Thursday afternoon starting at 3:00 pm sharp. No one should miss the regional 501st Garrisons competing in these Imperial Olympics Decathlon Events: Minute-Man Trooper, Ewok Toss, Biker Scout Slalom, TIE Pilot Aviation Challenge, These Aren't the Droids You're Looking For, Death Star Gunner, Heavy Artillery Shooting, Snowtrooper Hoth Defense, AT-AT Driver Stomp, Bounty Hunter Gauntlet Shoot, and Sith Lord Combat Challenge.

Fan Club Tables: Local, regional, and Internet fan communities will be exhibiting their love of Star Wars in the Fan Fair Hall. Each of these groups has come up with a significant contribution to make Celebration III more fun for other fans. Stop by and say hello!
