"Where one Ape shall rule Supreme!"... Familiar tag line? Well here's the latest...
As far as I can tell, this new super-size gorilla flick is going under the title King Kong 2005, based on the novel King Kong: Return to Skull Island. Apparently this film will act as a both a prequel, showing the origin of Kong and his law over Skull Island; and sequel, following on from the events after Kong fell from the Empire State building but then mysteriously disappeared along with his discoverer Carl Denham.
Due for release in early 2005 (Duh!), Kong 2005 promises to be a smash hit. Such scenes will include the ape battling with other behemoths (please be Godzilla lol!) and plenty more plane swatting. The only issue that concerns me is that one of the special effects teams behind this chimp flick are those responsible for Mighty Joe Young. However, with Peter Jackson at the helm and comedy legend Jack Black as Carl Denham and young stars Colin Hanks, Jamie Bell and Naomi Watts on deck, I am completely inclined to believe it will be a true success.
Also it will be funny to hear Andy Serkis, the voice of Gollum (LOTR), playing Kong himself! Marvelous!
