NASA astronomers have confirmed the discovery of an exciting new heavenly body....and no, it's not Salma Hayek.
Astronomers at the Palomar Observatory and the Hubble space telescope discovered the planetoid late last year and have unofficially named it "SEDNA" after the arctic sea goddess of Inuit mythology. "Sedna" is the largest orbiting mass discovered since "PLUTO" in 1930. At the moment very little is known about this new world except that it is the farthest orbiting body in our solar system(8 billion miles from the Sun).
"Sedna" appears to be reddish in color and travels on a severe eliptical orbit around the Sun , scientists estimate that it takes Sedna approximately 10.000 years to make a complete orbit. Sedna is a relatively small planet (1,100 miles in diameter), smaller even than our closest neighbor, the moon. Scientists are very curious about Sedna's reddish hue and of it's extreme orbit in the system. So roll out the red carpet and give a warm welcome to our new galactic neighbor...Sedna!
