Time to GO APE again! Print E-mail
    17 Feb 2004

Hey fans of all things simian! 20th Century Fox Video has just released a special collectors 35th Anniversary Edition of it's 1968 sci-fi classic, "Planet of the Apes"; The film, based on Pierre Boulle's novel and fantastically directed by Franklin Schaffner ("the Boys from Brazil") stars; Charlton Heston, Kim Hunter, Roddy McDowell, Maurice Evans, and the beautiful Linda Harrison, plus all those "damn dirty apes!"

The story was adapted into a screenplay by none other than Rod Serling ("Twilight Zone") and was the first installment of what would turn out to be one of Hollywood's first commercial film franchises resulting in 8 feature films and a short lived television series. The 2-disc DVD set includes never before seen footage, screen and makeup tests, movie trailers, star bios, and a special documentary about the history of the film and it's production-narrated by the late Roddy McDowell (Cornelius).

This is one of the best in sci-fi films and is definetly on the top 10 list of all time great sci-fi/fantasy movies. So instead of purchasing the lame Tim Burton remake-(apologies to Rick Baker's great makeup job) get the original, and still the best; "Planet of the Apes" Special 35th Anniversary Edition DVD 2-disc set now available from 20th Century Fox video. "So snuggle up with a big bowl of Bananas and someone you love and chant softly..."Ape shall never kill ape!", and enjoy a true sci-fi classic....
