Everybody's favorite Barbarian from Cimmeria has been given new life at Dark Horse Comics. The Oregon based company scooped up the rights to Robert E. Howards legendary warrior after Marvel Comics, Conan's longtime home, decided not to renew the ownership rights. Conan was a longtime mainstay at Marvel for nearly 20 years and is best credited for launching the career of artist extraordinaire, Barry Windsor Smith, and later rendered by comics legend, the late John Buscema.
This new rebirth of Conan will be helmed by award winning writer Kurt Busiek (JLA/Avengers) and talented artist Cary Nord (Daredevil, Silver Surfer). The new series will be a faithful telling of the original adventures based on the Robert E. Howard novels, with all the savage glory that comes with this warrior of the Hyperborean age. Fans got a taste of the new book with the December release of a special .25 cent preview issue, which sold over 100,000 copies. The regular series will begin this coming February and only from Dark Horse comics. "By CROM that's great news!" For more info on Conan's relaunch check out Dark Horse comics official website.
