From M. Night Shyamalan, one of the greatest film-makers of our time, comes one of 2002’s best movies. Not your ordinary alien Sci-Fi thriller, “Signs” follows the life of a single family, and how they deal with every aspect of a race of aliens invading planet Earth. This amazing story is filled with edge of your seat thrills, and just to keep the air in your lungs, there are some superb comedic moments inserted in just the right places. In his “Hitchcockesque” way of making the audience scare themselves, Shyamalan never lets us see the alien until the very end of the movie. He does this because of one simple movie making fact. Once something appears in the movie, its there forever; but if we see bits and pieces of it, it lets our mind turn it into something 10 times more horrific than what is seen on the screen. With a wonderful cast, an excellent soundtrack, superb directing, and the way the story comes together at the end of the movie, Shyamalan delivers one of the best Sci-Fi movies in the history of film-making. -Jordy |
