Let me tell you a story about a boy named "Bubba"! Bubba, the Redneck Werewolf that is... Its'about the hilarious misadventures of a small town dog catcher named Bubba Beauregard Blanche who resides in a sleepy little burg in Cracker County, Florida.
Unfortunately Bubba, who aint too bright to begin with, happens upon a seemingly small defenseless poodle mix that escaped from the local drug lab. The little doggie takes a bite out of our hero, quite literally, and the rest as they say is history. Needless to say that our country hero starts to sprout the big ears and sharp pearly whites...
"Bubba, the Redneck Werewolf" is a small independent title from the good folks from Brass Ball Comics, which is based out of Sanford, Florida, not far from Bubba's stomping grounds. Mitch Hyman is the writer/creator of the furry bumpkin and has been chronicling the adventures of this wayward wolf for the past couple of years, adventures that range from the occasional tractor pulls, storming a local comics convention, abducting and devouring some local livestock, to "wrastlin" with vampires.
The comic series is presently at issue #7 which is by the way it's first full color issue in the run and is now available at local comics outlets, as mentioned earlier "Bubba" is a small independent which may make it hard to find so ask your comics shop to hunt it down for you or search the net for it.(www.bubbawolf.net) - tell them Shawn sent ya!
The current art staff consists of newcomers to the comics field, Chris Lesley provides the pencils, while Jesse Hansen furnishes the inks, and last but not least Paulo Rivas applies the beautiful colors. This book won't be cofused with the works of Shakespeare or an Alan Moore, it's just good "ole" stupid fun with lycanthropy mixed in. So if you love independent books and crave something different from the mainstream join "the pack" and get "Bubba, the Redneck Werewolf", ask for it by name, you'll never be the same.
So hang out the wolfsbane and protect your daughters or little sisters because the curse of Cracker County is on the loose...."Bubba, the Redneck Werewolf" from Brass Ball Comics... |
