The other night was like any other typical Thursday night for me, after a long hard days work of illustrating my latest graphic novel, Super-7 (yes that was a plug, subtle, wasn't it?)... I conducted one of my favorite activities....channel surfing, and I find myself holding on, of all places the Fox network show, The OC...why?, why visit a show that I normally wouldn't visit if you put a loaded gun to my head? Two words-STAR WARS! The new regular trailer of the final installment of George Lucas' space epic "Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith" made it's television debut after the show, unfortunately I had to sit through almost 60 minutes of The OC to see it, but it was well worth it.
The trailer looked fantastic and I can only imagine how impressive it will look on a movie screen/ It had plenty of action-great special effects by ILM, and some intriguing imagery including what may be a Yoda-Palpatine saber fight and a battle involving Wookies. The makeup looked well done, Ewan McGregor looked more like the final version of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guiness) in this trailer sans the advanced age, and Anakin Skywalker is sporting a few more scars and looking as intense as ever. There is also a scene of the Jedi temple exploding, and it seems that Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) will have a more meatier and important role in this chapter, as he primarily served as background in Episode 2.
The trailer ended with the image of the man in black himself, and no, I'm not referring to the late, great Johnny Cash. Darth Vader... albeit a younger and a puzzling bit smaller in stature version than the towering original we've come to know and love, finally made his entrance. The trailer will start it's theatre circulation this weekend in front of the film ROBOTS (3/11), another 20th Century Fox production, the people who brought you "Ice Age" a couple of years back. I had a positive feeling after watching the trailer... I only hope it pays off when the film comes out May 19th. Until then ,"May the Force be with us... All"... |
