| Bubs & Hal's Matrix Revolutions Review |
 |
 |
| By Bubs & Hal |
|
WARNING!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Bubs : Let’s see…Where do I start?
Hal : Woah!
Bubs : Nice. First of all, I want to say that I liked this movie better than Matrix Reloaded. With that said... I would like to say that this movie was not a disappointment to me…
Hal : Well that’s a very good thing… you were beginning to scare me.
Bubs : Reloaded was the disappointment... So I went in to revolutions knowing that I was already disappointed in the Matrix "Trilogy". (Trilogy in the loosest sense of the word. The Matrix stands alone, just because a movie does well at the box office doesn’t mean you should drum up 2 more to complete a "Trilogy".)
Hal : Oh boy here we go...
Bubs : I went because I wanted to see it through... you know... kinda like Episodes 1 & 2. You know, after seeing the green-screened - CGI filled "films" (once again in quotations), the third one is going to be a major disappointment.
Hal : But I did see you shed a couple of tears…
Bubs : Tears of shame.
Hal : I think you held my hand at one point.
Bubs : Yeah, I was going for your popcorn… I missed.
Hal : Ahhhh.
Bubs : But I tell ya buddy, I loved the action sequences.
Hal : You got to admit they got back to the basics on this last one. It had a lot of the same feel as the first.
Bubs : Absolutely. They got back to their roots with the wire effects... which is what The Matrix was known for.
Hal : The story too.
Bubs : Right... noticeably missing from this movie… and in Reloaded. I found my self not really caring for the characters at all.
Hal : I will admit some things were a little drug out. Oh and could any one understand the French guy and the Chinese dude in the club?
Bubs : Yeah no kidding. Put the only 2 guys with strong accents in the scene, and turn up the music so you can't understand either one. Real smart.
Hal : Hey Bubs… did you notice that the Oracle was… ummm… different?
Bubs : Yeah. The actress that played the Oracle died.
Hal : Oh really?
Bubs : Yeah. They had to re-write the story to make her character make sense. They should have put that much attention into all the characters.
Hal : Are you sure on that she wasn't some upgrade or downgrade?
Bubs : She was a decent replacement. But, do you know who I liked a lot?
Hal : Who?
Bubs : The infected-with-an-agent-smith guy. He was awesome!
Hal : Yeah!! He was a badass!
Bubs : He had the inflection and everything down. That, to me was the coolest part of the movie. I love simplicity. No CGI… No fancy makeup… Just a good character actor. That’s a breath of fresh air in this effects-heavy movie age.
Hal : Blind Neo was a cool twist too.
Bubs : Yeah... that was neat. It was cool that he could see, beyond.
Hal : Like my magic 8 ball… Woah!!
Bubs : I know Kung Fu...
Hal : Ya know Bubs, I missed stuff like that. Downloading stuff into their heads. "Tank… patch me in… I need to know how to jump-start a helicopter… and while you’re at it… I need guns… lots of guns."
Bubs : Right...lemme type it in... MOVIE STYLE!!
asdfak;sliweifsdjkcmksaf;aei[pfiojfsda;qjfa!!!
Hal : I need some more agent stuff too!!
Bubs : Right... kjoijafkdsa;ikfj;askfkswopiewo!!!
Hal : Jumping from people to people!!
Bubs : jaklfjakldklfjaskfj;asl!!
Hal : More office buildings!!!
Bubs : afsdklfjakliaoj… My fingers are cramping... afdlsajkalsdafsdaf!!! Hey... wait... did Trinity die in this movie?
Hal : I don’t think so…Wait… did she…?
Bubs : Either way... I lost all interest in her character.
Hal :: Wait… She did die!! Why, oh why, Bubs, why!! So young… so sweet… so much leather.
Bubs : Ya know… If she would have died in the 1st movie... I would have been heart-broken. But when she died at the end I actually felt relieved. Finally Neo could kick ass without her holding him back!
Hal : The fight at the end with Agent Smith was awesome!!
Bubs : True dat. I only noticed the CGI once.
Hal : He did kick major ass!
Bubs : But any CGI character in the rain, or water looks weird. They do that weird shake off the wetness thing...and it blows the effect every time.
Hal : Bubs? What do you think happened to Neo?
Bubs : The robots that took him are hiding him… For Matrix RESURRECTON!!!!!
Hal : AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Bubs : You see, the first movie is like the Hobbit.
Hal : Right.
Bubs : Were' actually only on "The Two Towers". We’ve got the "Return of the King" to go. Don't be suprised... they left it wide open.
Hal : With rainbows.
Bubs : Right. Peace only lasts until they're out of cash.
Hal : Too true, Bubs, too true. So how do you rate it?
Bubs : As an Action film... 8. As a final chapter to a trilogy... 2. And out of the 3 others... 2nd. Needless to say, I stand by my Reloaded review... to the letter. How about you?
Hal : Action… 9. Final chapter… 6. Out of the three… I feel it was great where it was. As for Reloaded, I still feel it was an important part of the puzzle. If you played Enter the Matrix… you get even more of the story.
Bubs : I still think a movie needs to stand on its own... no games... no books... nothing more to buy.
Hal : Play the game, Bubs, then we will talk. It has great characters, story, and game play.
Bubs : I have no doubts that the game is awesome. I'm just a big believer in the movie standing alone. Let me put it to you this way… years from now... lets say ten... PS2, Game Cube, and X-box will most likely be out of date... and Enter the Matrix will be no more. But the Matrix Trilogy will be released in the latest technology, (DVD/VHS)... Where will you be then, when you are showing it to a younger generation? They won't appreciate the movie because the video game contained half of the story line. That's my problem with a partial movie story line.
Hal : Bubs I have crashed our ship a couple of times, but I won’t steer you wrong.
Bubs : Adding to the story is one thing... taking away from it to make a buck, is another.
Hal : Bubs buddy...I love ya.
Bubs : Thanks...
Hal : Where’s my bud?
Bubs : Right here.
Hal : Say "yub yub" for me.
Bubs : No... You're embarrassing me.
Hal : You were turning a shade of purple.
Bubs : I was not.
Hal : Were too.
Bubs : Not.
Hal : Yub yub…
Bubs : Yub. There… I said it.
Hal : Yippie!! Now… The Matrix…We hated it, right?
Bubs : The whole trilogy? Or just the first one?
Hal : Revolutions… We hated it, right?
Bubs : Liked it for action... hated it for story. That's fair, right?
Hal : Well, there we go… if ya can't beat ‘em… join ‘em.
Bubs : Like Neo did with Agent Smith. Oh! One more thing…Why didn't they build an EMP outside of Zion? I still can't figure that out.
Hal : Because their captain of the army was a jerk.
Bubs : And he had to run it by the council...
Hal : Jerk.
Bubs : And they would rather die than have Neo save them.
Hal : Right. I hated the council.
Bubs : Me too. Well bud, here's to Return of the King... a guarantee Bubs favorite.
Hal : Me too… Lord of the Rings can do no wrong.
Bubs : True dat.
Hal : Lets go eat some Tasty-Wheat… and call it chicken.
Bubs : Ummm… okay? |
