Okay, so a “once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon of nature opens up a mysterious channel to the past”. It’s a stretch, but I’ll give it to ya’. Throughout this movie, however, the odds of what happen are just too great to believe. They are asking us to swallow much more than what is beyond reality, and I just happened to start choking in the middle of the movie, when a wallet travels through time (I know somebody would have eventually looked under the seat.). And speaking of choking, just because the movie is based in New York, you shouldn’t cast a lead actor just because he has a New York accent, which appears to be the only reason Jim Caviezel got this role. Despite the horrible lead actor and far-fetched “vocal time travel by light” idea, the plot, and eventually the movie, was saved by Dennis Quade. That may sound like I’m contradicting myself, but after we accept the fact that it truly is a Sci-Fi movie, and it will never happen, this amazing story captivates us. We watch how the father helps his son to save his own life, then he saves the life of his wife, and ultimately, he ends up saving his son as well. If you can truly accept this as a Sci-Fi film, which is hard to believe at first, it turns out to be a pretty good flick. - Jordy |
